Fitness Trainer

Mercy Wellness Center

Williston North Dakota

I worked with the public by showing them the proper way to achieve a great workout. I set up a workout regimen based by what the client would like to work most on. Then we go through the proper procedures to get the full effect of their workout. We go through the proper lifting techniques, and how to operate all of our equipment with them. I also pull charts for the Physical Therapists as well as answer the phones and help out as much as possible with the public! This is a great job, the people that come there are always full of energy and spread it throughout the entire facility.

December 2006 - June 2007
Case Aide

Northwest Human Service Center

Williston North Dakota

I worked with children who had different types of mental disability ex. depression, ticks/turrets syndrome. etc. I got to experience the different types of behaviors that they displayed throughout the short amount of time I was with them. The age group I worked with was from 4th-6th graders. I had the pleasure to work with them on special activites, and also take them to do different activities throughout the community. We were also responsible for cooking them supper, and making sure that they were succeeding at home and in school.
The children that I had the opportunity to work with were amazing. They showed me the diversity and the challenges they face from day to day.

-

December 2005 - July 2006
Receptionist

Mercy Medical Center OBGYN

Williston North Dakota

This was my first job in an actual hospital setting and I absolutely loved it! The staff that I had the opportunity to work with were amazing, if I needed anything or had any questions they were always there for me leading me in the right direction. I answered phones, scheduled patients appointments, pulled charts for the doctors and nurses, if anyone needed my assistance they would never hesitate to ask. I loved my job the reason I am longer working there is because the decided to go to a solo practice,
(Great Plains Women's Health Center) and they needed another Nurse Assistant so they had to let me go, but it was a great learning experience.

-

August 2005 - December 2005
Teacher

Kids Club/YMCA

Mandan North Dakota

I worked with Kindergarten and First Grade through the YMCA in Bismarck but at Roosevelt Elementary School in Mandan. This was an exciting job! We had two teachers for every two grades, and we had to have a schedule of activities that we were to go by for each day. We had snack for them, then we would do the children's homework with them and help them out on anything they were having difficulties with. Then we would do our activity for the day, usually it had to be something that they could learn from, either a physical activity, an art craft, a hands-on project, or even just reading to one another. We also got the chance to do some activities through the YMCA. The children got to go swimming, tae kwon do, parks, and also some fun community activities. We always had something fun planned for them. I think it is important to have fun and still learn from the experience. The children were great it was really hard leaving them. I had changed majors in college and moved back to Williston. This was also a very good learning experience for me.

FIELD WORK

-

I did my internship at Mercy Recovery Center in Williston North Dakota. I had to complete one hundred hours of internship. During this time I got the chance to join in on Lectures, Films, Group Sessions, the admitting process, and also the joy of listening to the patients life stories. During my internship I got the opportunity to do an Admit all on my own without any problems! The best experience I feel was the respect from the patients. They would open up to me and tell me their entire life history, this to me was what I took the most pride in. I also got the opportunity to interact with the Addiction Counselors, they also taught me a lot and gave me a lot of insight about the field. I am currently working as an employee for the Mercy Recovery Center as a temporary Addiction Technician.

-

SKILLS

-

I am very energetic and I learn very quickly. I love being around people, and I love helping people, this is why I chose this profession. Being around people makes me happy and if I can help them I hope that makes them happy I love giving people hugs, and making them smile. I have very high qualities when it comes to computers. Throughout High School I was active in all my computer classes. Also in college I had some experience with different computer programs.
If I am not able to answer a certain question I will tell you "I do not know, but I will certainly do my best to find out." I learn very quickly by having a hands-on experience. I believe everyone deserves to feel special about themselves no matter what their circumstances are. I feel that I could bring great ideas and become a great employee!

-

TRAINING

-

I have had 114 hours of internship through Mercy Recovery Center and had the opportunity to be temporarily employed through them and I loved every part of the experience!
